New Daiwa Steez Baitcasting Reels
Bass anglers will be lining up to hook into the new Steez™ reels from Daiwa. The 103SHA and 100SHA baitcasters are the lightest reels of their kind, and among the fastest.
Daiwa’s new Steez™ magnesium reels weigh in at 5.6 and 5.7 ounces, respectively, and feature a 7.1:1 gear ratio. Daiwa says the ultra-fast retrieve allows users to rip lures back to the boat and quickly cover large areas of water. A single turn of the handle reels in an impressive 29.8 inches of line.
Both models feature a free-floating, A7075 aluminum spool that works in conjunction with Daiwa’s automatic anti-backlash system to allow for long, trouble-free casts. The Steez 103SHA features a standard spool design, while the 100SHA is equipped with a high-capacity, U-shaped spool ideal for accommodating heavier test lines.
The reels feature a tempered aluminum drive gear, phosphor bronze pinion, and eight-disc wet drag. Daiwa says the cranking stability and ease are enhanced by moving the handle closer to the rod’s centerline for less wobble, a better feel and increased winding leverage.
